Phonics Programme

Phonics is a useful strategy in the learning and teaching of reading. It involves supporting students to recognize basic letter-sound relationships in English words and to apply this knowledge in reading and spelling. Our school has developed the school-based phonics curriculum in teaching the 44 phonics sound through Primary 1 to 2.

Process Writing

When writing, pupils work through the five stages of the writing process:

  • prewriting (planning and idea-gathering)
  • drafting (composing a rough draft)
  • revising (improving the draft)
  • editing (correcting mechanical errors)
  • publishing (sharing of their writing)

Teachers of our school have implemented the writing process in the clasroom helping pupils to become real writers.
